A two-day weekly drop-off enrichment program for homeschoolers

As a veteran homeschool parent, I know the challenges and burnout that can come alongside the immeasurable joy and love that we get from choosing to home educate our children. We are in the trenches day in and day out, and our duties are never really done. My desire in creating this program is to offer a safe, alternative educational choice to those of us who may be feeling the need for more balance in our lives.

Whether you are choosing this program so that you can pursue your career, get more things done around the home, run errands, take care of aging parents, or simply be able to take more time for yourself, we want to honor and recognize that need.

Our new homeschool enrichment program is a two-day per week drop-off option for traditional homeschooling families. Our program will offer your child a variety of classes that will naturally enhance and enrich the core education you are providing at home. While we will not be following any particular curriculum, our experienced teachers will piece together materials from various educational resources that will incorporate practices in reading, reading comprehension, writing, spelling, science and math.

We are pleased to announce that we have been approved to use Firefly Nature School and Wild Math curriculum as part of our classroom options!

Part of our program will also include plenty of student-led initiatives for both learning and social interaction. We want our students to feel pride and ownership in their education and we believe that giving them a voice will do that. We want our kids to know they are part of a family. We want them to understand what it means to be an active member of their school community and how learning and growing from one another can have life-long benefits.

If you are interested in joining our program for this inaugural year, we would love to have you! We are offering our founding families special pricing that they will be able to carry with them year-to-year as our program continues and grows. We hope you and your family will join us this year.

This program is only open to children ages 6+ who have notified with their home school district as homeschools and have been excused from compulsory attendance.

2023-2024 Schedule

Drop- Off Days will be offered as follows: (students must attend both days)

Tuesday- 10:00 am- 2:00 pm

Wednesday- 10:00 am- 2:00 pm

Program Fee

Monthly Program Fees for our Inaugural Year Families

Program fees are deducted the 1st of the month at the following fee schedule:

$185 per child per month

Monthly fees directly support overhead costs including: teacher salary, building rent, utilities, insurance and supplies.

We are a Qualified ACE Service Provider! That means you can use your ACE Funding for our Homeschool Enrichment Program fees!

Registration

Registration Fee and Schedule

A non-refundable $150 registration fee per child is due upon registration. Registration fees go toward securing your family's spot for the upcoming year, as well as supplies for the school year.

Once registered you will receive a confirmation email with details about parent and student orientation and open house, along with a handbook.

Our Educators

Director/ Educator

Anya Sattely

Anya graduated with a degree in Communication Studies from Ohio University. From there she started her career as an educator. Anya has experience as an adult educator through Ohio Health and through the State of Ohio Aspire Program. She also taught fourth grade at Logan Christian School. She left public and private education to begin homeschooling her children and has homeschooled them for the last seven years. Anya founded Beneath the Sycamore in 2018 and has served as the director, a co-op educator, and a nature group leader since that time. She enjoys spending time in the woods with her family and dogs, raising chickens, being on the water, and doing anything that allows her to express her creative side.

Educator

Candace Bobinger

Candace graduated with a degree in Wildlife Biology and Education. She coordinated, developed and taught 4-h courses in Kentucky and was a high ropes and zip line educator for youth team building experiences. After her time in Kentucky, she served as a park ranger for the City of Columbus Metro Parks. For the past seven years, Candace has worked as a private educator for learning pod style homeschool classes, as well as home educating her own children. She has been involved in Beneath the Sycamore co-op and has taught and assisted several classes throughout the past year. Candace enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, geology, baking, anything that can include her dog, Boone.

Educator

Debbie Brink

Debbie has been a resident of Somerset for 34 years. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Master of Science in Early Childhood Development. Debbie retired with 33 years experience as a public school classroom teacher and a Reading Specialist at the primary level. Debbie is an active grandmother, gardener, homesteader, and dog trainer.
